The Band
McMaster Marching Band is a modern brass + reed marching band that is composed of 35 Students (Graduate and Undergraduate) as well as Community members. Since its inception in September 2009, MMB has been seen across campus and the community performing at various events. The band rehearses once a week on Wednesdays for 2 hours. Practice is normally composed of Drill and Music instruction. MMB Performs roughly 3 times/month during the academic year, excluding the exam season.

The Exec
The Band's Executive are voting members of the band who pland and set the strategic direction for the band on a year-to-year basis. While most of the work is done behind-the-scenes, the exec works tirelessly to ensure a positive social environment for its members.
Name: Neil DePassPosition: President (Founding)
Instrument: Trumpet
Originally from Cornwall, Ontario, Neil is in his 4th year of Mechanical Engineering and Management, specializing in thermo fluids and energy systems. When he realized that Mac didn't have a marching band, he brought the idea of starting one. As president, Neil manages the day-to-day operations of the club, chairs executive meetings, and coordinates with various departments of the university (MSU, Athletics and Recreation, Alumni, etc).

Position: VP Administration
Instrument: Trumpet/Music Stand
Emily is in her 2nd year of Music, with a minor in Psychology. As the VP Administration, Emily manages the band’s website, moderates the forum, and is involved in planning social events. During practices, you will find Emily in the middle of the trumpet section, playing obnoxiously and extremely loud. She enjoys playing piano, riding horses, and swimming when she has free time.

Position: VP Finance
Instrument: Trumpet
Born in Toronto and raised in Waterdown, Norman is a fourth year Honours Philosophy & Political Science student with interests in ethics, jurisprudence, and political theory. He sits on the University Board of Governors as the undergraduate representative and hosts a talk radio programme on Talk 820 and Oldies 1150 called "The Forum: A Marketplace for Stories and Ideas." Norman manages the scheduling and equipment of the band and is thrilled to share in this exciting new part of the McMaster community.
Name: Cassandra Thomson
Position: VP Communications
Instrument: Clarinet
Cassandra is in her 4th year of a 5 year co-op program in Honours Biology and Pharmacology with a minor in Biochemistry and a minor in Math. When she is not in the lab experimenting on animals or out shopping for sweater vests you'll usually find her doing things like instructing drill, and screaming "DRESS" incessantly at rehearsals. She is also responsible for communicating important information between the band members and the band executive.
