3. Do I have to pay for my uniform?
No, uniforms will be distributed on the day of an event and must be returned afterwards. Costs associated with maintaining the uniforms are covered by the membership fee.
4. How much are membership fees?
Membership fees are $40 yearly. This covers the cost of practice space, transport to/from events, instructional costs, music, and maintenance of uniforms and instruments. Provided your folio, lyre, uniform and/or instrument is returned undamaged, $20 will be refunded at the end of the year.
5. Is the commitment manageable with a full course load?
Yes! Rehearsals are twice a week (after day classes). Most, if not all members, are full-time students from every year and every faculty. Several members are involved with additional clubs outside of band.
Marching band is a great way to unwind after a long school day, and many members find that the regular rehearsals help break up their week. It's also a great way to develop close friends and study partners, acting as a supportive environment for all students!
1. When is rehearsal?
MMB typically meets twice a week in St. Paul's Anglican Church:
Mon: 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Wed: 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Members are expected to be at every practice with a minimum of 75% attendance*. Members are also expected to attend the majority of performances.
*Special consideration can be made for members with scheduling conflicts.
2. Do I have to bring my own instrument?
No! If you don't own an instrument, you can rent one (MMB will facilitate the rental). We provide marching percussion and sousaphones.
