How Can I Join?
General recruitment is typically conducted twice a year, once in September at ClubsFest and again in January at ClubsFest II. At the Band table, members will be available to answer any questions you may have, as well as provide more information. Sign up at the table to join our mailing list! This is how we'll get information to you about the upcoming rehearsals at which you'll meet the other members, the executive team and music instructors.
In addition, recruitment is open whenever the following are on display - posters throughout campus, promotional video in MUSC atrium, info tables, and facebook ads.

The Band requires a small membership deposit of $40 for membership ($20 per term which will be returned at the end of the year provided uniforms/equipment is undamaged). Each member will be given a uniform, an instrument if they don't own one, a folio and marching lyre.
Uniforms will be distributed on performance days and should be returned afterwards. MMB provides an inventory of wind instruments and marching percussion. Students are welcome to use their own instrument, but will be provided with one if they don't own one.
A strong and confident drumline is the heart of any marching band. It lends a steady beat to the foundation of the music and keeps everyone walking in perfect step.
The Drumline is a branch of the MMB. While they play alongside the rest of the band, they too have an instructor, and a repertoire of Street Beats (drum-solo songs meant to exemplify the skill and precision of a drumline). Street Beats give the drummers a chance to perform more difficult pieces and give the rest of the band a breather between songs.
The Drumline consists of snare drums, bass drums, tenor drums, as well as cymbals.
Friends of the Guard
Have you ever wanted to participate in a parade?
Friends of the Guard are a group that support the marching band by carrying the band banner and the flags of the school and supporters during parades. They are not required to attend practices. We are always looking for new Friends of the Guard, as the positions are flexible and scheduling is voluntary.
If you're interested in becoming a Friend of the Guard, please send your name and contact information, along with any questions or concerns to Lauren Walsh at
