Lisa Kappen (she/her)Communications Director, Flute
MedRad Ultrasonography III As comms director, Lisa is responsible for internal and external communications between general members, execs, alumni, adult staff, and more. Lisa is your primary source of information on the MMB discord. When she is not at band, Lisa can be found drawing, attempting to learn the guitar or (most likely) trapped in the ultrasound bays of IAHS. |
Justin ChanFinance Director, Clarinet
Hon. Chemical Biology Co-op IV This is Justin's fourth year as a clarinet in the band. As finance director, he is in charge of the band's expenses. If not losing their mind at the MMBudget, Justin can be found reading some boring document, or playing too many video games. |
Alaine Hibbert (she/her)Logistics Director, Flute
Hon. Molecular Biology & Genetics II Alaine is the Logistics Director for MMB and brings energy and organization to everything she does. Whether she’s coordinating behind the scenes or connecting with others, her outgoing nature and love for community shine through. When she’s not with the band, you can find her reading a good book, experimenting in the kitchen, or watching TwoSet Violin instead of practicing. |
Crystal ChenPromotions Director, Flute
Honours Chemistry II As the promotions director of the MMB, Crystal is in charge of recruitment and the MMB's online presence. When not studying or at band, you can find Crystal trying to learn another instrument (French horn is next), making keychains, or looking at cool cars (Ferrari please sponsor us). Medical Radiation Sciences Radiation Therapy III Maria is the Quartermaster, responsible for assisting Logistics with organizing equipment, uniforms, and instruments. This is her second year as a member of MMB. When she isn't staring at CT scans in Thode, she is probably miscounting the stitches on her crochet project! |
Daniel WengWebmaster, Colourguard
Psychology, Neuroscience and Behavior III Daniel is the Webmaster and, thus, is in charge of keeping the website updated. He adds pictures of events, new leadership and makes sure the information on the website stays relevant. Outside of his stick waving time, he likes playing video games, going to the gym, or spending the night in with a hot cup of tea and a good book. |

Oie MokPercussion Section Leader, Drums
Materials Engineering III As a section leader, Oie is the portal for any drumline related questions and stuff! They will keep the heartbeat of MMB running in their third year in the band. Outside of work, Oie loves anime and games, sometimes sketching or randomly go on exploring secret paths on campus. |
Jessica WongFlute Section Leader, Piccolo
Honours Chemical Biology II As the flute section leader, Jessica is the link between her section and the executive team. She distributes music, takes attendance, and is the first point of contact for all things flute. When not making bird noises on the piccolo, she can be found concocting a new Spotify playlist, "studying", or making potions (pretty drinks). |

Humanities II Meet JK, a second-year student pursuing a degree in History. As one of the talented brass players in the marching band, JK plays the trumpet with both skill and spirit. Known for bringing a bit of fun and mischief to the group, JK enjoys spreading shenanigans and good vibes. |
Richard Hull
Music Educational Director, Saxophone
Richard's involvement with the McMaster Marching Band began two years ago and was appointed Musical Director in 2023. Richard has been teaching instrumental music at the middle school level with the Halton District School Board since 2006 and is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers, the Ontario Band Association, and the Ontario Music Educators’ Association. Outside of teaching, directing, and performing with various bands, he maintains an active family focused lifestyle that includes walking his dogs and canoeing. |
MaySon ScanlanDrill Instructor, Trumpet
MaySon is a seasoned trumpet player with over 20 years of experience, from Drum Corps International (DCI) to British Brass Bands. Currently, he marches with the Canadian Armed Forces and has performed for heads of state and royalty, specializing in marching music. MaySon also teaches Drill and Marching for Gayly Forward, Canada’s most inclusive LGTBQ+ marching band. |
